First Jobs on an official vacation, jony seems to be rumored to be leaving for London, and now Serlet's gone. Man! must be something is wrong here...success getting into Apple's nerves?
3 unrelated events, followed by a stupid conclusion. Also..
1. Jobs has cancer, if you haven't noticed. He's on on 'vacation'. It's a health leave.
2. Ive isn't moving to London. The rumor has been discredited.
3. People get replaced all the time. No reason to think it's a bad thing. Lion looks awesome.

To all the people incensed that they've been labelled high-risk (for whatever reason) and not able to give blood, for goodness sakes… it's not about you. Go and spend one night a month washing dishes in a soup kitchen or something if it's really about giving to the community. There are no shortage of things you can quietly do to give to others.
To everyone else, it just means we have to give more blood to make up for the loss! It's great if this thread has inspired you to give. It was many years before I finally started donating… Not because I didn't want to, but like a lot of things, I just never got around to it. Then I saw a mobile blood van and thought… right, no excuses for putting it off.
Now someone in my family has been receiving blood to deal with a potentially life-threatening condition, so we are so thankful to the mystery donors!
I'm AB+ (universal recipient) which is handy.
Me too. When I first gave blood and found that out I thought, oh my blood is pretty much useless as it's only good for the small percentage of population with exactly the same type. But, it's the reverse with plasma. If you need plasma, we got the good stuff! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_type#Red_blood_cell_compatibility

Randomly my macbook will boot and have no video or KB.trakpad input.
I wil have to hook up an external display and mouse and keyboard to be able to log in and work.
its a has anyone sen this before? The Macbook boots then shows a blue screen and it fades to black and then will not display video on my macbooks LCD, but will on an external display.

But in it led me to buying a 300C instead - and after hearing about stuff on vwvortex I really didn't feel bad about that decision. As for the 5cyl, it is competent but I don't see the point to it - people should be buying a TDI instead, and the 5cyl is a noisy odd engine. >>
I wonder how many people cross-shop the 300C and the Passat...two very different cars.

Why does it take a media storm for Apple to open up on an issue ? It would be so much better if they more forthcoming and frank befoe an issue snowballs.
As they said, it has been a week. It is not really there fault that the media instantly makes a storm out of every Apple issue.
if they are not tracking people then why have the feature? maybe the information is for someone else??... who knows but one thing is for sure its an invasion of privacy..... even if I do stay home all day and night.
It is clear from your reply you did not read the transcript or any thing else on this issue...

Lame! I just had an Early_Unit_End on the p6900 I was 60% though. What a waste. Must have been a bad WU because this computer has been rock stable so far, not so much as a hiccup. And to add insult to injury the replacement WU is a 2684, the slowest bigadv there is.
Hi,
Are you using the latest 6.34 client? Most of the new units are 6901s that need it to use the a5 core. The a3 units should be being phased out.
If you are still using 6.29, you will likely be getting the dregs of the old WUs - all the ones that everyone else failed to complete.
However, if it happens again, it might be worth considering that bigadv folding will find fault with even '100% stable' overclocks.
I had a system that was to all intents and purposes stable, but after 2 weeks of bigadv, glitched and failed a WU. I reported the WU as bad, but someone else was able to complete it, so knocked bclk back 2 MHz and been stable since.
Keep folding!
Rob

I've had my 5th gen. iPod video for about five years now, and it's treated me well; until last night. I was lying in bed listening to music, and I wanted to skip the song, so I pushed the forward button. Nothing happens. I try it again; the iPod freezes for about 20 seconds, then totally powers down, and makes a clicking noise (sounds like a drive maybe?).
Now, every time I turn the iPod on, I get the Apple logo, and it immediately goes to the "Connect to your computer, use iTunes to restore" screen, and after about 10 seconds, it powers off, again making the same whine/click noise. It's in a loop with this.
If I plug it into my computer, it doesn't read whatsoever; nothing on my desktop, nothing in iTunes, but the iPod itself goes to disk mode with a white screen and a "do not disconnect" sign. I cannot seem to get it out of disk mode, let alone get my computer to recognize it, so I can't restore it. I have a Macbook, and I've tried to restore it using other computers (several Windows systems) and it recognizes a "USB mass storage device", but doesn't appear in iTunes or anywhere else.
I've tried doing the manual reset, tried diagnostics mode, and to no avail. It's stuck in disk mode in a perpetual loop every time I turn it on, and NO computers will recognize it.
I have a really old 3GB iPod mini that I got years ago, so that's been my replacement for the past 24 hours— problem is, 3GB hardly compares to the 30GB that was on my iPod video; I can't even fit a quarter of my library on it. I'm kind of upset about it, I mean, I know that 5 years is quite awhile, but I've taken extremely good care of the device. It's been in a protective case ever since I got it, and I rarely drop it. I use it about every day. Any ideas on what I can do? To my understanding, if the hard drive has crashed, a sad iPod logo will appear, and that hasn't happened yet, so... who knows? Any help is GREATLY appreciated. I don't really want to pay Apple to repair it because I may as well buy a new iPod (which I won't be able to do for quite awhile, broke college student here).

Why should people who just want to read the news be compelled to provide the FT with personal information in order to do so? Why does the FT need to know my name, address, phone number, etc.?
Because the Financial Times wants it that way. The company offers its content to subscribers under certain conditions, and it is free do so. If the company should not be allowed to do that for the sake of consumer protection, then there should be laws to prohibit such practice. If you personally do not agree with the conditions of the subscription, then you are always free to decide not to subscribe. If it turns out that their decision keeps customers from subscribing, then they might choose to reconsider.
With regard to subscriptions on iOS, I think that Apple simply goes too far and should leave content providers the freedom to offer their content in their way, based on their subscription models. As the Financial Times has stated, under the current terms of the App Store, subscriptions via iOS do not meet their expectations because they cannot provide the content in the way they would like to.
On a side note, I wonder whether Apple violates competition rules. When I remember correctly, the iPad had a considerable market share on the tablet market. One could argue that Apple abuses its market position to impose their own (unfair) conditions on publishers.

I was just fooling around with GarageBand, and whipped up these 4 songs. 2 of them I've used in games I've created.
Battle (http://www.worldwizard.net/songs/Battle.mp3)
Battle 2 (http://www.worldwizard.net/songs/Battle_2.mp3)
Polyphonizer (http://www.worldwizard.net/songs/Polyphonizer.mp3)
Testing (http://www.worldwizard.net/songs/Testing.mp3)
Of the 4, Polyphonizer is my favorite. It got its name from the fact that it relies on mass polyphony to keep listeners' interest.

Yes it does! And my 27" iMac is crunching 24/7 since I'm back from a holidays. And getting bonuspoints now, doing about 9000 ppd with the advmethods. This is a huge improvement for me, but don't know if I keep folding 24/7 because of the electricity bill... Cheers guys!

still not worth it.
But for those of you that it is worth it (or have money enough to not care), and are clamoring about an iCal feature, Leopard server has some of that stuff in there, so who knows, it may also be in the works.

I have my office on the first floor but just going to turn it into a guest bedroom and move my office to the basement. It's always cold down there so I'll be able to run all my clients again. 6 cores at 4.2ghz puts of quite a bit of heat even with 1.27v. 4 GPUs @ 900mhz puts off quite a bit too lol.

if he is 18 you can't do **** about it. You can force him to pay rent thou ^_^
and if the girl isn't 18 yet, then it is rape Erm.. no. Over here, the consenting age is 16, which is what it is most of europe, and, iirc, the US. Yes, that's right. You have to be 16 to have sex, but 18 to watch other people have sex
